So Little Time, So Much Fun!

Donna and Bob have been in Sunset Beach since January.  We've gone to the beach, visited a "doll house," had dinners, played golf, gone shopping and just enjoyed being together.  All too quickly, it's time for them to go home.

We were able to celebrate Tony's 70th birthday with dinner at the Parson's Table (a converted church) and drinks at the haunted, Brentwood House.  It was a fun evening.

The Doll House was a place we read about in the paper.  A woman named Mary started painting on glass and collecting a variety of movie memorabilia.  Mary said that the Lord told her to create this....and she sure did!    She shows her collection in small "bird coop" like doll houses that you can walk through.  The only problem was, it didn't look like the photos in the paper.  It was cluttered, old and broken.  But, we had a good time and I bought a round garden rock like the ones I took from Jenna's yard in Lakewood.  It's colorful and pretty.

We had a picnic at Sunset Beach and were having a good time watching surfers, birds, the water and dogs playing in the sand.  We even met a young man who moved here from Avon Lake.   And then the birds arrived.  One at a time, it seemed, until there they were a small army of feathered fiends.  They watched us....they scoped out our positions, but more than that, they scoped out our food.

It started with a casual toss of a piece of cracker.  A few of them jumped to get the prize.  The more we tossed, the more birds arrived.  They were in a frenzy.  They screeched at each other, they flew into each other, they hung in mid air waiting for the next piece they could fight over.

We decided to stop throwing food and enjoy the cheese and crackers ourselves and that's when it happened.  I took two small pieces of cheese out of the bag and quickly put them up to my mouth....out of no where, a big bird body slammed  into my face from the side and took my cheese.  I still have a small red mark on my face from the encounter.

And, as if that wasn't enough....Donna took a cracker and was about to eat it when another bird dive bombed her head and crashed into the back of it.  As the cracker came out of her hand, the bird was quick to scarf it up.

Note to all  picnic-ers....eat the food, don't throw it at the birds, you will be sorry.

And, to top it all off....one of them pooped in my shoe.  Damn those birds!

Anyway, the weather cooperated so Tony and Bob got in several games of golf while Donna and I massaged the economy by shopping.  Yesterday, we went to a spa for facials, nails and more shopping!

Tony got great birthday gifts from the "kids."  Artwork, letters and a book, all about Tony....called, appropriately enough, "The Book of Tony."  It's a hoot, all about the 1940's with pictures and facts about Tony.

Today, we Skyped and Facetimed with the grandkids and had a good time.

All in all, it's been a busy month, but a happy one.
