Today was our first visit to the beach for the season. It was wonderful. There is something magical about sitting in the sun, listening to the waves break against each other and make a hollow churning sound as they splashed deep under the water.
The sky was clear, birds were out and it was a truly tranquil time. It made medical bills, pain and doctors seem like a distant memory.
We had wine and fruit and made a sand foot fort to keep the approaching water out of our territory. To us, it was a re-run of the historical TV program we watched about Paul Revere. The water was the red coats and our fort was Concord. That's another great thing about being at the beach--you can do goofy things like that and it seems normal!!
It was a perfect day for the beach--70 and cool and I hope we many more this season.
A few weeks ago, we went to dinner with our friends from Strongsville, Corinne and Dan Pribula. Our kids were in high school together and we were all on the Senior High Prom Committee. Dan and I have absolutely no artistic ability, so while the rest of the committee were drawing, painting, stitching and creating memories for the seniors, Dan and I would be in the kitchen, talking about work and holding up the fridge. We talked for hours about how we were the moral support that held the committee together!
It was good to see them again. We caught up on what our kids are doing and had a nice meal at Chianti South, one of our favorite restaurants.
And so, tomorrow, it's back to the real world--working, dealing with sick people and making the same money I did in 1978! But, I will take memories of the beach with me, like I always do.
Blue sky and rolling water
Tony does a water temperature check
...and finds an ancient sea creature!
My wine and cigar guy
Playing on the beach
Ignoring the water
Bird against the pier
We build our foot fort....
The enemy approaches.....
Our foot soldiers reinforce the wall
We are breached.....our foot soldiers gave way
Beach face....when all is right with the world!
