Taking It Easy!!

My new friend, Judy Budd, invited Tony and I to the American Heart Association Gala at the Convention Center in downtown Wilmington.    It was a really nice event.  There was a silent auction, dinner and dancing.  Judy introduced me to a ton of people and told all of them that I am looking for a job.   One of the most important people I met was a head hunter who is supposed to call me next week to go over my resume.   So, I have my fingers crossed that something good will come of this.

There were two little girls at the event, around a year old who both  had heart trouble.  They were featured during the program about the organization.   Imagine, having heart surgery at that young age.  Of course, I had to hold them and get my "grandchild fix."

On Friday, we had the Chinni's over for appetizers.  As usual, the food that Tony made was great!!  It's nice to make friends with people who know Tony and I as a couple.  So we are slowly expanding our circle of friends and meeting some really nice people.  There is a strong Cleveland/Ohio connection down here.  As soon as people hear we came from the Cleveland area, we find out that either they used to live in Cleveland or have family in Cleveland.

It's very cold...(yes, cold in North Carolina) and windy here today, but the skies are still a deep blue.   We went next door to see the progress the builders are making on the Zeno's house.  It's fun to see the house take shape but it also feels odd walking around someones house before they do.

After all of the social activity of Friday and Saturday we are taking it easy today.  I'll be studying the rules of the road so I can get my North Carolina drivers license.  No driving test, thank God, just signs and rules.   I did my first driving solo on Thursday.  I drove myself to Weight Watchers.  I actually found it and then found my way back home!  With my sense of direction that's a real accomplishment.

We are looking forward to seeing Tony and Marie soon and Donna and Bob should be visiting some time this month.  I can't wait to see Jenna, Jon and the kids, hopefully in September.  We will be back in Cleveland in March, but don't have a date nailed down yet.  Time is flying by as it always does.
